About the Team›History
Carnage's history starts back in the Summer of 2007. octanE created a pug to compete in the 2007 CPL Summer BYOC Championship tournament. After searching for a name the team decided to use one of octanE's suggestions, Carnage. From there the idea evolved into what it is now. The Carnage pug placed 5th in that BYOC tournament with only a few days of preparation beating teams such as eMazing gaming and going into OT with exSports. The team also beat inRage at that event who now has three players playing for the Mexico City CGS squad, Furia. After that CPL Summer event the Carnage name took a short hiatus as the scene began to look a little grim as far as activity and events go.
With the announcement of the CPL Winter Tournament octanE decided to get another group of guys together to compete under the Carnage tag. This line-up looked to be a bit more competitive and had a higher chance of success. Carnage arrived at the event as huge underdogs to both Devastation and XFX, with predictions showing that Carnage would be on a lower level of comeptition than these teams and barely on par with some of the others in attendance. In the end, Carnage was able to take down Devastation twice to grab second place under Team XFX.
Once again after this event Carnage took a hiatus due to inactivity in the community and lack of events. While we were in hiatus the one thing Carnage was looking forward to never actually came around. The CPL had announced the cease of all operations and the prize money from the Winter event never reached any of the players. It was a huge blow to the organization as they had planned to put some of it away as an allowance for the team, and the event itself had cost the organization nearly $3,000 to attend. The Carnage organization even donated money for some teams to attend including to Devastation, and a few others. All this to be ruined by the CPL's lack of payout.
To this date there has not been another major LAN tournament for the CS:S community aside from the CGS. The Carnage CS:S team looks to participate heavily in the upcoming online events in the fall and winter of 2008.
